An opportunity to deliver and finance the next generation of low carbon energy assets
We're working with an established energy solutions business looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the development, financing and delivery of low carbon energy projects for commercial and industrial customers.

This is an opportunity for a commercially astute individual who understands the complexities of energy financing, contractual negotiations and deal structuring, and who enjoys taking ownership of transactions from initial discussions through to successful financial close.

The business offers a particularly compelling proposition through its access to its own funding, enabling it to develop long term financing solutions and build lasting relationships with customers.

The Role
You'll take overall responsibility for managing the commercial process associated with developing and financing low carbon energy assets, working closely with customers, investors, legal advisers and internal stakeholders.

Projects will typically involve transactions valued between £500,000 and £2 million, requiring a combination of financial understanding, commercial judgement, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

Key responsibilities will include:

Leading commercial transactions from initial engagement through to contract execution and financial close.
Structuring and negotiating Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), finance leases and other long term energy financing arrangements.
Managing complex stakeholder relationships across customers, finance, legal and technical teams.
Navigating internal and external approval processes to ensure transactions progress efficiently.
Evaluating the commercial and financial viability of proposed energy projects.
Negotiating contractual terms and resolving commercial challenges throughout the deal lifecycle.
Coordinating the various parties involved in developing, financing and delivering low carbon energy assets.
Building strong, long term relationships with commercial and industrial customers.

About You

We're looking for someone with a strong commercial and financial background who can demonstrate a successful track record of managing and closing complex transactions.

Ideally, you'll bring:

A minimum of five years' relevant commercial, energy finance or asset finance experience.
A sound understanding of financing structures, preferably within the energy or low carbon infrastructure sectors.
Experience of Power Purchase Agreements, finance leases or comparable long term contractual financing arrangements.
A proven ability to negotiate contracts and successfully close deals.
The confidence to manage multiple stakeholders and navigate complex legal, financial and commercial considerations.
Experience taking ownership of transactions through internal approvals, negotiations and completion.
Strong commercial judgement, attention to detail and the ability to keep deals moving forward.

We'd be particularly interested in speaking with individuals from:

Energy asset finance and infrastructure financing businesses.
Specialist PPA providers and energy services companies.
Commercial and industrial energy solutions providers.
Large metering and energy infrastructure businesses.
Other asset finance organisations with experience of complex, long term contractual arrangements.
You don't necessarily need to have followed a conventional career path within the energy sector. What's particularly important is your understanding of financing, your ability to navigate complex transactions and your track record of getting deals over the line.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers the chance to play a significant role in developing and delivering low carbon energy infrastructure, combining meaningful environmental outcomes with commercially attractive, long term financing solutions.

A key differentiator is the business's access to its own funds, providing greater control over financing arrangements and the ability to offer customers compelling, long term solutions.

You'll have genuine ownership of transactions, working across commercial, financial, legal and technical disciplines, with the satisfaction of seeing complex deals progress from concept to completion.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the commercial challenge of structuring and closing deals and wants to apply those skills within the growing low carbon energy sector.

Interested?
If you have experience in energy finance, asset finance, PPAs or complex commercial transactions and would welcome a confidential conversation, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Please get in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
