Posted 1st September 2026

Join one of the industry's most respected environmental teams
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced Contaminated Land / Land Quality professional to join one of the UK's most prestigious multidisciplinary consultancies, working alongside some of the most highly regarded practitioners in the industry.

My client has an exceptional reputation for delivering technically challenging, innovative and high-profile projects across the UK and internationally. Their work spans major infrastructure, urban regeneration, property, transport and complex brownfield development, often involving projects at the forefront of sustainable design and environmental best practice.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint at Principal or Associate level within their established London team.

The Opportunity
This is much more than a conventional contaminated land consultancy role.

You'll have the opportunity to take a leading position on some of the most interesting and technically complex projects in the market, working within multidisciplinary teams of environmental scientists, engineers, planners, designers and sustainability specialists.

Depending on your experience and interests, you'll have scope to combine technical leadership, project direction, client management, team development and business development, while continuing to develop your own profile within the industry.

Projects are varied and often high profile, offering exposure to complex land quality challenges where innovative thinking and collaboration are genuinely encouraged.

The Role
Your responsibilities are likely to include:

Leading contaminated land and land quality projects from initial assessment through investigation, risk assessment, remediation and development.
Providing senior technical advice on complex contaminated land issues.
Overseeing Phase 1 and Phase 2 environmental assessments.
Developing and reviewing conceptual site models.
Designing and overseeing ground investigations.
Reviewing soil, groundwater and ground gas data.
Undertaking and reviewing human health and controlled waters risk assessments.
Developing remediation strategies and overseeing remediation programmes.
Providing technical review and quality assurance.
Managing multidisciplinary projects, budgets and programmes.
Building strong relationships with major private and public-sector clients.
Supporting proposals, tenders and wider business development.
Mentoring and developing junior and mid-level consultants.
Working collaboratively with specialists across a broad range of environmental and engineering disciplines.
At Associate level, there will be greater emphasis on technical leadership, key client relationships, team development and helping shape the continued growth of the service.

About You
We're interested in speaking with established contaminated land professionals operating at Principal, Associate or equivalent level.

You'll ideally bring:

Significant contaminated land / land quality consultancy experience.
Strong knowledge of UK contaminated land legislation and guidance.
Experience across site investigation, risk assessment and remediation.
Excellent technical report writing and reviewing skills.
Strong project and client management capability.
Experience leading and developing other consultants.
A relevant degree in geology, environmental science, hydrogeology, engineering or a related discipline.
Chartered status, or progress towards it, would be advantageous.
We're equally interested in individuals with a strong technical specialism and those who have developed broader commercial and leadership responsibilities.

Why Consider It?
The quality of the organisation and its people is a major attraction.

You'll be joining a highly successful and respected team, with the opportunity to work alongside recognised experts and learn from some of the strongest practitioners in the sector.

You'll also benefit from:

Exposure to major UK and international projects.
Technically challenging work rather than repetitive project delivery.
Genuine multidisciplinary collaboration.
Access to industry-leading technical expertise.
Excellent long-term progression opportunities.
The ability to develop your own technical and commercial interests.
A highly respected name to further strengthen your professional profile.
Hybrid and flexible working.
A strong salary and comprehensive benefits package.
For someone who has built a successful career within contaminated land but feels ready for bigger projects, greater technical challenge and a platform with genuine international reach, this is an opportunity well worth exploring.
