Are you an experienced ecologist looking to take the next step in your career, combining technical leadership, project management and business development?
My client,  is looking to recruit a Principal Consultant – Ecology to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of ecological projects, provide technical expertise, and help develop the next generation of ecological professionals.


The Opportunity

You'll act as a technical and team leader, providing expert ecological advice across assessments, surveys, mitigation, monitoring and land management projects.
You'll manage projects from inception to completion while supporting business development, client relationships and the continued growth of the ecology service.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage ecological projects from inception to completion.
Provide expert technical advice on ecological assessments, surveys, mitigation and monitoring.
Lead, mentor and develop ecological teams, including junior staff.
Oversee ecological surveys, assessments and technical reporting.
Prepare and review PEAs, EcIAs and Species Protection Plans.
Provide input into Biodiversity Net Gain and Habitats Regulations Assessment work.
Manage project budgets, resources, subcontractors and programmes.
Develop client relationships and support tenders, proposals and business development.
Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities.
Maintain high standards of technical quality, legislation, CIEEM guidance and H&S.

About You

You'll ideally have:

A relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences or a related discipline.
Full CIEEM membership, preferably working towards Chartered status.
Strong experience in ecological consultancy and project delivery.
Experience with PEAs, EcIAs, Species Protection Plans, BNG and HRA.
Experience using QGIS or ArcGIS Pro.
Strong technical report writing and communication skills.
Experience mentoring or managing ecological staff.
Excellent organisational and project management skills.
A proactive and commercially aware approach.
