My client is seeking an experienced and motivated Bat Ecologist or Senior Bat Ecologist to join their growing team. Due to an increasing portfolio of complex and high-profile bat projects, this is an excellent opportunity for a specialist looking to develop their career within a supportive and technically strong environment.

You will work closely with a highly experienced Lead Bat Ecologist and contribute to a wide range of projects across multiple sectors, with opportunities to engage in broader ecological work if desired.


Key Responsibilities
Deliver and manage bat-focused ecological projects
Undertake a range of bat surveys including:Preliminary Roost Assessments (PRAs)
Activity surveys
Tree assessments
Manage and deploy bat survey equipment
Analyse bat data, including acoustic datasets
Produce high-quality technical reports (e.g. survey reports, EcIA, EPS licence applications)
Liaise directly with clients and stakeholders
Support project coordination and tender submissions
(Senior level) Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development

Requirements
Essential:

Relevant degree in ecology or related discipline
Membership of CIEEM
Minimum 3 years’ consultancy experience (5+ for Senior role)
Bat survey licence from Natural England (Level 1–2+)
Strong knowledge of UK bat species and survey methodologies
Experience in bat report writing and data analysis
Understanding of relevant legislation and best practice guidance
Desirable:

Experience working under EPS licences
Bat handling experience
Tree climbing and aerial inspection skills
Bat acoustics analysis certification
