My client is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate Sustainability Consultant specialising in carbon to join their growing sustainability team in London. This is a senior opportunity for a driven sustainability professional who wants to influence major projects, develop people and play a leadership role within a progressive, high-performing consultancy.
This role sits within a well-established national sustainability group and offers the chance to work on industry-leading projects across a wide range of sectors. You will be part of a collaborative, knowledgeable team that values technical excellence, innovation and a supportive, flexible working culture.
The Role
This is a varied and influential position combining technical leadership, project delivery and people development.
You will play a key role in supporting the leadership of the London sustainability team, sharing line management responsibilities and helping to mentor and accelerate the development of junior consultants. You will act as a technical expert in whole life carbon, providing insight, analysis and innovative solutions to reduce carbon across the full project lifecycle, from design and construction through to operation and end of life.
Working closely with multidisciplinary design teams, you will help embed sustainability into projects at every stage, supporting clients to meet ambitious carbon targets and evolving regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and delivering large, complex sustainability projects for high-profile clients

Leading the development of sustainability and energy strategies
Delivering environmental assessments such as BREEAM, WELL and HQM from early design through to completion
Supporting the delivery of net zero whole life carbon outcomes across projects
Contributing to research, innovation and thought leadership initiatives to keep the team at the forefront of the industry
There is also genuine scope to engage with wider industry activity, including research, guidance development and knowledge sharing, for those keen to influence best practice beyond individual projects.
About You
You will be an experienced sustainability consultant with strong technical expertise, leadership capability and a passion for delivering meaningful environmental outcomes.
You will bring detailed knowledge in a selection of the following areas, with the expectation that you will continue to broaden your expertise over time:
Energy strategies and low carbon design
Building Regulations Part L assessments using tools such as Elmhurst and IES

To be successful, you will have:
Experience working within sustainability consultancy and be ready for a new challenge at the leading edge of the field
A relevant degree and a strong technical foundation in sustainability or a related discipline
Confidence leading sustainability workshops with clients and design teams
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
